EDSP 4440/4440G Sign Language 1
Utilization of curricular and language theories and principles of deaf education to create or choose a practical sequence of learning activities for deaf and hard of hearing students. Includes methods of teaching basic subjects to deaf students. 3 credit hours.

EDSP 6990 Special Topics: Communication Methodology: Assessment and Instructional Strategies for Developing Literacy Competence in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students
The study and application of the theories of literacy development, instructional methods/strategies and their application to, and adaptation for, students who are deaf and hard of hearing. Topics will include developing emergent literacy, literacy assessment, instructional materials development/adaptation, writing instruction, and literacy in the content areas for deaf and hard of hearing students. Teacher candidates will be required to participate in field experiences as part of this course. 3 Credit hours.

EDSP 6480 Instructional Strategies and Curriculum Development for Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

EDSP 6945 Practicum Deaf/Hard of Hearing
Prerequisite: Consent of department. Field work, observations, seminars, lectures, and/or empirical research projects with hearing impaired children or adults in an academic or rehabilitation setting. 3 credit hours. To Be Arranged.

To apply and register for courses at UNO:
New students or students who have missed a semester must visit http://admissions.uno.edu/app.cfm for application information. Once accepted you may register through the WEBSTAR link on the UNO homepage ( http://www.uno.edu ). All current UNO students can register for these classes as they usually do through WEBSTAR. Once registered you will be entered into your course’s Blackboard site. These courses are offered via interactive videoconferencing on the web at http://lalidc.uno.edu. Students MUST have weekly access to a high speed internet connection (DSL, Cable or better), a web camera, and headset with microphone (both available for about $40.00 each at numerous local retailers like Best Buy, Office Depot, Wal-Mart). If you register for an online class you need to download the free Microsoft Live Meeting software on your home computer (you will need a web camera, headset with microphone, PC [not Mac] computer, and cable or DSL internet connection), so read the LiveMeeting tips on this web site.
